How To Make Romantic Eye Contact

You walk into a bar. You survey the place and instantly you catch someone looking at you. So, naturally, you look at that someone too. It is only later that you find out that both of you have actually caught each other’s eyes. So what is the next best thing to do?

Do not be afraid. Having confidence in yourself will make it a lot easy for those from the opposite sex to notice and take a second look at you. Eye contact is just one of the many ways to attract an equally eager would-be friend or special friend.

It is good to take note though that direct eye contact is very important to establish that would-be initial romantic moment and spark an on-going – who knows? – romantic relationship.

Usually, the ones in boyfriend and girlfriend relationships do this during the initial period of their getting to know each other phase. Husbands and wives would also do them a lot of good if they also maintain looking at their partners. Sometimes, the bills, the children have taken off a lot of spark from married people. Romantic eye contact is a great way to ignite any lost passion and intimacy.

Looking through each other’s eyes during what seems like forever that all the other people in the room – if there are any – just seem to gradually fade away until only the two of you literally have the eyes for each other is one way to cement the fact that you have the other person in your thoughts.

Direct eye contact also speaks volumes which words sometimes cannot fully convey. It expresses self-assurance and certainty about yourself and what you could do and bring to the fore of an impending relationship or in helping maintain one.

For single people who are dating, or would like to date a potential significant other, it is important though that when establishing eye contact, you let the one you are looking at notice and look at you too. Checking someone out is a non-verbal gesture that just as similarly means: I am interested.

As much as possible, after establishing direct eye contact, spend a considerable amount of time with the person you know you are interested in. Doing so enables you to express how much you value the other person.

What should you do if you are shy? Relax, take some deep breaths. Soon you will come to realize that words will just come naturally tumbling out of your mouth.

Here is a neat trick that one could easily do if he or she is having difficulty maintaining that all important eye contact. If you simply cannot look at someone directly, try looking at the middle part of the person’s face, specifically the one between the person’s eyes and eyebrows, just a little bit above the person’s nose.

Doing so creates the illusion as well as the impression that you are intently looking at the person directly. It could prove to be a little difficult later when you realize that you seem to be having a conversation with the person’s forehead, but you will get the hang of it.

A rewarding and new would-be relationship is in the works if you try to make an effort of seeing people eye to eye.

Believe it or not, besides the eyes, there are other parts of the face which could be utilized to establish a potential romantic relationship. And just like the eyes, it does not have to be specifically physical. Try making use of your lips, especially if you are a female.

Applying lip gloss and occasionally biting your lower lip in certain points during your conversation – this is after it is assumed that you were able to establish eye contact and through that you are now on casual speaking terms – may attract further attention. It also helps if you are in a light mood. Let a few fun, witty and light jokes loose. This to help establish that more than your eyes, your personality is just as great a magnet.

All in all, romantic eye contact is just a tip in the relationship ice berg. It is not the be all and end all of a would be relationship. For the unattached, it is a good place to start though when reeling in those prized catch. For the already married, it is one good and effective way to maintain the fire of your long-term relationship.

Resource Box for your Articles

Simple steps how to make an eye-popping Resource Box for your Articles

The internet is the information highway, this phrase has been used so may time it should be nominated for the Internet Cliché Award. People that go to the internet are subdivided into groups, but generally, they are out to search information. Whether for gaming, business, fun or anything else the internet has provided us with information that has proved to be very beneficial.

Through the recent years many people have learned the secrets of Search Engine Optimization. More and more sites have seen the effects articles have done for the traffic of their sites. Some have even created sites devoted entirely to providing articles that could be read by their website visitors and have links that could lead to many sites that are related to the topics and subjects of the articles.

For example, the sites may feature many articles about a whole lot of topics. As a website visitor reads the articles they have searched for, they can find at the end of the article a resource box that can be clicked on to link them to the site that has submitted the article. Of course the article would be in relation to the site. Lets say if the article is about rotating the tires, the resource box may lead to a link to a site that sells tires or car parts.

A resource box is what you usually find at the end of an article. They will contain the name of the author, a brief description of the author, a brief description of the sponsoring site and a link. If a reader likes what they read, they would have the tendency to find out where the article came from to read more. The resource bow will be their link to the source of the article and this will entice them to go to the site and do some more reading or research for the subject or topic they are interested in.

But like the article itself, the resource box must also be eye-catching to demand the attention and interest of the reader. While the resource bow encompasses only a small space, providing the right keywords and content for your resource box will provide more prodding for the reader to go to your site.

Now we know what resource boxes are, what are the benefits of having a good resource box? Mainly its driving traffic to your site. Many sites would allow articles to be placed in their sites because they can make use of the articles to fill their pages. They also get affiliation with other sites that can be beneficial for them as well. For the sponsoring site, when you get people to click on your resource box, you generate traffic that can be counted upon as potential customers.

So what would be a good content for your resource box? Basically it is keywords, learning about the proper keywords that people are mainly searching for. There are many tools you can find in the internet that can help you in determining what keywords to use.

Resource boxes can also make use of all the creativity it can get. You only get a small space for your resource box so you better make the most of it. Try to catch the attention of your reader with resource box content that can make them give a second look. Unlike TV ads, you don’t have visual aids to drive your point in. But you do have the power of imagination of a reader. With the right content, you can make them think and intrigued.

Another tip is to use keywords that should be related to your site. Do not mislead your potential website visitors. Build your credibility so that more people would get enticed to visit your site and browse what you have to offer. Make the people click your resource box by providing resource box content that makes a lasting impression. You only get one chance to wow them and hundreds of chances to repulse them.

Never underestimate the power of the resource box. It may be small in size but they will provide a significant aid in driving traffic to your site. A boring resource box will never get a job done. Be fun and creative but at the same time show that you have a great deal to offer, too much to ask for something that couldn’t fit a paragraph? Yes and no, there are many tips and guides that can help you in doing this, the first step is realizing how important a resource box could be in making people click your link and be directed to your site.

How To Improved Vision After LASIK Laser Eye Surgery

Longer visual recovery time compared to LASIK laser eye surgery. LASEK laser eye surgery causes dry eye less frequently than LASIK laser eye surgery. LASEK laser eye surgery may cause more pain and discomfort than LASIK , but less pain than PRK laser eye surgery. Find out the facts about LASIK, where to go for LASIK, and how to talk with the people who know about laser eye surgery. During LASIK laser eye surgery, an instrument called a microkeratome is used to cut a thin flap in the cornea. Healing after LASIK laser eye surgery usually occurs very rapidly. Despite the pluses, there are some disadvantages: Changes made to the cornea cannot be reversed after LASIK laser eye surgery.

Most patients notice improved vision within a few days after LASIK laser eye surgery. Recovery is quick and usually no bandages or stitches are required after LASIK laser eye surgery. After having LASIK laser eye surgery, most patients no longer need corrective eyewear. Visit this site to find out more about laser eye surgery, particularly LASIK surgery. You may have noticed printed advertisements and television commercials that advertise a type of laser eye surgery called LASIK. The risk of corneal haze is much less with LASIK laser eye surgery than it is with PRK.

Learn about lasik eye surgery and other treatments for vision problems. Lopatynsky provides LASIK, vision correction, eye surgery, refractive surgery and eye care services. However, complications in LASIK surgery are rare and the vast majority of patients benefit from almost perfect vision without eyeglasses or contacts after surgery. One option in vision correction is LASIK eye surgery, which is rapidly growing in popularity.

LASIK Eye Surgeon

All in all, LASIK eye surgery is relatively less complicated than other kinds of surgery. How To Apply Eyeliner

Apply Eyeliner Like A Professional

Many people think they already know how to apply eyeliner, and by all rights, they do a good job. In actuality, there is a big difference between the way you might apply eyeliner and the way a professional make-up artist does. Use these easy-to-follow steps and you can apply eyeliner like a professional make-up artist:

1. Select your eyeliner

An eyeliner must be applied near the base of your eyelashes. As there are varying products in the market such as cake eyeliner, liquid liner and pencil eyeliner, it is important to try each type so that you will know which type will best accentuate your own natural beauty. Also, to whatever type you prefer, practice the application so you can achieve a very fine line. Remember that it is not a pretty sight when you apply eyeliner in a very thick line. It will look harsh, at the same time loud, making your eyes as well as giving it a tired and heavy impression. Always bear in mind that a thin line is recommended – should you have any trouble applying it, a brush is helpful to smooth out the line and to blend it well.

Liquid eye liner.

Liquid eyeliners are recommended to be used and should only be used above the top of the eye lashes, whereas an eye shadow or an eye lining pencil is suggested to be used under the eyes lower lashes. This kind comes usually in a bottle with an application brush, almost similar to an ink. This requires great precision during application, but can be perfected through constant practice. A note to remember is to always let the liquid dry before you open your eyes after application – if not, the liquid may smear the top of your eyes and give you a raccoon look.

Eye liner pencil

The easiest to use, works just like colored pencil. As the tip of this liner is dry, it has a tendency of pulling your eyelids fragile tissues; stretching the eyelids when lining it could help a lot in achieving a smooth application. A note to remember, you should always sharpen the pencil before every application to eliminate any bacteria that has accumulated at the tip.

Permanent eyeliner

This is can be created through cosmetic surgery. This procedure is known as micro pigmentation, a technique that adds a defined line to the lid which with a handheld device used to puncture the skin several times a minute with a very thin needle that pushes color pigments to the position that is desired.

2. Apply the eyeliner

– Begin at the inner corner of your eye. Always be certain to use a light hand when applying your eyeliner, as the area around the eyes is very sensitive and delicate.

– Put on your eyeliner only after you have already applied an eye shadow. Doing it before an eye shadow application would only cover the eyeliner.

– To achieve a dramatic and intense look, a kohl pencil with a color can be applied above as well as below the lashes, and then followed with black or very dark gray liquid eyeliner at the top. This will give the impression of dark eye lashes and will stay on for the whole day. A dark colored eye-liner will highlight the eyes form and outline as well as give them a deep look.

– While holding your head back facing the mirror, look down so that your eyelids will become tight making it easier in applying and controlling the liner. When necessary, smudge.

– The eyes will seem larger when you make a line with a pencil under your lower lashes – instead try a dark eye shadow applied with the help of a tiny makeup brush, to give an illusion of darker and fuller eye lashes. Below such line, you need to apply also a thin line with a lighter shade of eye shadow, preferably white, yellow or beige to brighten up your eye area.

– Pencil liners may be used on both above the top lashes as well as under the lower lashes. Liquid eye liners however, must only be applied on the top lid. Cake eyeliners are applied with water and may be put on to both the top and so too the bottom of the lid.

– If you have beautiful green eyes, try putting on a violet smoky pencil that will enhance your eyes, since basing from the color wheel, violet and green are opposite, so they will compliment each other.

– Refer to nature when you are in a process of deciding on a color. Green, beige and burnt orange are autumn colors.

– Others prefer using an eye liner not only for the eyes, but the lips as well. Should you decide on this, an eye lining pencil will be most suitable for the application. Make sure though, that you choose a certain shade of somewhat reddish brown or orangey-brown or a brownish plum, to compliment and flatter your lipstick.

How The Eyes Work During Speed Reading

If you’ve ever been witness to someone speed reading the sight can be remarkable. They turn the pages of a book at breakneck speed and often their hand is skimming the length of the pages very quickly. It’s difficult to imagine that they are absorbing everything that they are reading. After all, a person reading at normal speed can sometimes even have trouble remembering what they just read. However, it is possible to read and retain all of the information in a book or magazine even when you are reading it much faster than a normal person does.

It’s obvious that one of the keys to speed reading is the eyes. It’s the eyes that are scanning the page, and soaking up the information for the brain. The people who are able to speed read don’t have special “bionic” type eyes. Their eyesight is just the same as anyone else’s.

The first step to speed reading is found with the eyes. In order to read properly at all, regardless of speed, a person has to be able to see to the best of their ability. This involves getting a regular eye examination. Once you have a thumbs-up from the eye doctor or a new set of glasses or contact lens, you are all set to learn some of the basics regarding your eyes in relation to speed reading.

It’s easier to read under a dim light than a very bright light. Many people have been led to believe the opposite and have spent years sitting next to a lamp that is almost blinding them, as they read. The eyes adjust better to dimmer light and so if you are going to practice your speed reading techniques, invest in a reading lamp which generally features a softer type light bulb, so that it’s easier on the eyes.

For years it was strongly believed that speed reading was done by using the peripheral vision. When someone refers to peripheral vision, they are referring to the line of sight that you see out of the corner of your eye. The idea was that the eyes scanned the page and the words that were caught in the peripheral vision were the words that stuck. This doesn’t seem to be the case though, as people who read using peripheral vision would ultimately be missing much of the text. This would lead to a misunderstanding of the material.

Instead it’s important when you are attempting to speed read that your eyes scan the entire text. The techniques that are suggested for speed reading utilize this approach. That way the person reading isn’t missing entire words or phrases as they would be with the peripheral vision approach.

Your eyes are essential to your success in speed reading. Having the proper prescription eye wear and using a dim light will give you the foundation you need to begin the process. By using your entire field of view, you can quickly and efficiently absorb the material you are reading.

How Long Until Vision Clarity

As with any other surgery, LASIK also has a recovery period. Since LASIK involves cutting a flap in the corneal tissue, the recovery typically pertains to the healing of the cornea. Patients who have undergone LASIK surgery may experience blurry vision and watery eyes until the cornea heals completely. However, it is true that in case of LASIK, the patient requires less time for full recovery, relative to other refractive surgery procedures.

It is reported that LASIK helps restore vision clarity shortly after the surgery. However, there are a few exceptions and LASIK does have associated complications. During recovery, a patient may suffer from halos/starbursts, light sensitivity, astigmatism, dry eye syndrome, or other minor side effects. But these conditions normally dissipate over a period of a few weeks. Moreover, instances of such complications are minor – a mere 5%.

In general, your eye surgeon would schedule post-operative meetings, in order to test your vision and assess the results of the surgery. These post-operative visits are highly beneficial for a speedy recovery, since the doctor may advise certain valuable tips and precautions that you must take. Though quite rare, a few patients might require enhancement procedures to attain optimum visual acuity. Such aspects may be discussed at these post-operative visits.

Following the LASIK surgery, you should be able to resume your daily life fairly quickly. However, it is recommended that you should not take part in any major sporting activities for at least a month or so after the surgery. For instance, tiring contact or water sports are highly detrimental to recovery.

LASIK is the preferred choice of many among the available types of refractive surgery. After LASIK surgery recovery, majority of patients have had excellent results, without any serious or long-term complications. Furthermore, they have been able to see as well as they did with their eyeglasses or contact lenses – a dramatic change in a person’s life, with a whole new range of activities available that he or she could not enjoy while wearing eyeglasses.

How Long Does A LASIK Eye Operation Last

Considering LASIK? Expect your stay at the laser eye surgery center to be approximately 2 hours. However, the actual laser treatment might take only about 7 to 10 minutes per eye. Though quite complex a procedure, its expedited nature renders it a simplistic feel, at least superficially. LASIK is a relatively painless procedure as opposed to other surgical techniques.

Even though it’s a surgery, LASIK is performed with the patient awake and functional. However, the eye surgeon typically administers a mild sedative (for instance Valium) and anesthetic eye drops. The complete 7 to 10 minute process can be broken down into two major steps. The initial step involves the creation of a flap of corneal tissue. This is accomplished with a microkeratome (a surgical blade), or a femtosecond laser. A hinge is left at one end of the flap and the flap is folded back to reveal the stroma (the middle section of the cornea).

The second step of the procedure employs a high precision laser, an excimer laser, to reshape the cornea. The excimer laser is a “cool laser”, that is, it achieves precise ablation without heating or damaging the surrounding tissue. After carving the cornea in the desired manner thereby imparting the desired refraction to it, the flap is repositioned. The flap remains placed by natural adhesion and aids in the healing of the cornea.

Much like the procedure itself, the visual recovery is also rapid in case of LASIK. Since the ablation is performed in the stroma, under the corneal flap, the cornea does not register the fact that it has been operated. As a result, the wound response is muted, and that is the reason for a hasty recovery after LASIK.

On the whole, LASIK is a fairly innocuous procedure, without the need for hospitalization. Though the patient might experience blurry vision immediately after surgery, the visual acuity is restored within a day or two, and the patient may resume his/her daily chores with ease. In fact, the preparation towards the procedure (the preoperative examination) may take up more time relative to the procedure itself. Finally, the results achieved through this 7 to 10 minute LASIK procedure are certainly worth the endeavor.

If you find a LASIK doctor that you are confident with, you will be able to get more information about LASIK eye surgery operations.

Keratomileusis

At present, LASIK or “Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis” is the only commonly performed keratomileusis procedure. Keratomileusis involves an altering of the shape of the corneal tissue with the aid of an excimer laser, which is a powerful ultraviolet laser. This laser eye surgery is performed by ophthalmologists in order to correct different types of vision impairment. LASIK is the preferred treatment for patients with refractive error, since the procedure entails rapid recovery and minimal pain overall.

LASIK surgery leverages technology to its fullest. For instance, a computer system tracks the patient’s eye position 4,000 times per second, while the lasers make the desired incisions. It might sound like a dangerous procedure, but it’s time to debunk this myth. LASIK surgery is a completely safe procedure performed with high precision. That is, the laser carves the corneal tissue in a finely controlled manner. LASIK surgery is not that cumbersome when compared with other types of eye surgery, and has a relatively low frequency of complications.

Though LASIK surgery is performed with the patient awake and functional, the eye surgeon typically administers a mild sedative and anesthetic eye drops. No matter what the type of vision impairment, altering the shape of the cornea is a viable solution. In general, the procedure has very few side effects and offers instant results. However, a few complications may arise depending on the extent of the patient’s refractive error and other irregularities in the corneal tissue.

LASIK eye surgery, with excellent technology at its disposal, is improving at a rapid rate. However, there is no conclusive evidence as to the chances of long-term complications owing to the surgery. Although relatively uncommon, a few complications may arise, namely corneal infection, slipped flap, haziness, halo or glare. An important point to note is that this laser-assisted procedure is irreversible.

LASIK has gained popularity due its efficacy and improved precision. The procedure also boasts of the smallest complication statistics relative to other eye surgeries. With only a 5% complication rate, LASIK sounds like a safe enough procedure to rectify your vision impairment.

How Does Laser Eye Surgery Affect The Eyes

In order to truly comprehend the effect of laser eye surgery, we must first consider the vision anomalies that it treats. It is a general belief that common refractive errors, such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism, are attributable to certain irregularities in the shape of the cornea. Due to such anomalies, light rays entering the eye don’t fall exactly on the retina (a layer of light sensing cells) thereby resulting in unclear vision. LASIK is a surgical procedure that aims to rectify these irregularities by reshaping the cornea.

LASIK restores visual acuity through precise ablation of the corneal tissue with the aid of a high precision laser, an excimer laser, which is a “cool” laser that precisely carves the cornea without heating or damaging the surrounding tissue. Once reshaped, the cornea enables the desired accurate refraction, since the light rays now fall precisely on the retina.

Laser eye surgery imparts enhanced visual acuity, without the need for corrective lenses. With the superlative technology at its disposal, laser eye surgery provides excellent results that are rather impressive. An estimated 98% of patients are within 1 diopter of their refractive error following surgery, possessing unaided visual acuity of 6/12 or better. Over half of the patients achieve unaided visual acuity of 6/6, which is the standard visual acuity. However, visual acuity may sometimes be worthless if vision quality is sacrificed in process. Though rare, laser eye surgery complications like halos, glare and double vision may cause vision quality deterioration, rendering blurry vision.

The complications, if any, may be a source of discomfort. The use of prescription eye drops and artificial tear drops helps in soothing the eyes thereby averting the irritable feeling in the eyes that creeps up after surgery. These side effects are known to subside within a few months and the refraction stabilizes within 3 to 6 months following surgery.

Nevertheless, LASIK is a viable, safe and efficacious procedure. Its effects are permanent on the eyes. That is, the refraction attained lasts forever unless otherwise altered due to age related eye ailments, such as presbyopia, which is known to affect almost every individual in their mid to late 40s.

If you find a LASIK surgery that you are confident with, you will be able to get more information about the effects of LASIK laser eye surgery.

How Do You Know What To Expect From Laser Eye Surgery

LASIK is a safe and efficacious refractive surgery procedure. It is also the most prevalent of all refractive eye surgery techniques. With such overwhelming prominence, LASIK is often believed to be a panacea for all refractive anomalies. Therefore, the expectation of patients undergoing LASIK is unduly high. But LASIK is a surgical procedure and it’s bound to have a few potential complications and risks. Patients who conjure up an image of LASIK, believing it to be an “elixir for the eye”, are often thwarted at the outcome of the procedure. Satisfactory results often require realistic expectations.

In most patients, LASIK is capable of enhancing un-corrected vision (without the aid of corrective lenses). Over 90% of patients with low to moderate myopia are imparted 20/40 vision, which is the benchmark for qualifying for a drivers’ license in most of the US states. Over 50% of LASIK patients are expected to achieve Snellen 20/20 vision. However, a 20/20 post-LASIK vision does not necessarily mean that you would enjoy crisp and sharp vision. While the Snellen benchmark is a useful visual acuity test, it is not the only way to assess vision. For instance, a Snellen eye exam doesn’t evaluate color and light sensitivity, night vision, or the accommodation power of your eyes (the ability to focus on nearby and far away objects intermittently).

LASIK involves rapid visual recovery and visual acuity is restored within a day or two. But it may take a fair amount of time for the complications and side effects, if any, to subside. During this period, normally 3 to 6 months, the patient might experience halos, glare and starbursts around light sources at night. Ghost vision or double vision is another reported side effect. In general, after LASIK surgery, myopic patients recover hastily when compared with hyperopic patients.

Though LASIK often eliminates the need for eyeglasses and contact lenses, some patients might still require a minimal prescription for certain activities. The need for reading glasses would typically surface beyond the age of 40, since this is when presbyopia (also called “short arm syndrome”) sets in. LASIK may also pronounce the dry eye condition. LASIK is an irreversible procedure and the physical results are permanent. However, eyes may experience age related changes even after LASIK surgery.

If you find a LASIK surgery that you are confident with, you will be able to get more information about what to expect from LASIK laser eye surgery.

How About Doing Some Walleye Fishing

The Walleye is a freshwater perciform fish native to most of Canada and to the northern United States. The walleye is sometimes also called the yellow walleye to distinguish it from the blue walleye.

In some parts of its range, the fish is known as the yellow pike or pickerel, although the use of these names should be discouraged since the fish is related neither to the pikes nor to the pickerels, both of which are members of the family Esocidae.

Genetically, walleyes show a fair amount of variation across watersheds. In general, fish within a watershed are quite similar and are genetically distinct from those of nearby watersheds.

The species has been artificially propagated for over a century and has been planted on top of existing populations or introduced into waters naturally devoid of the species, sometimes reducing the overall genetic distinctiveness of populations.

The common name, “walleye”, comes from the fact that their eyes, not unlike those of cats, reflect light. This is the result of a light-gathering layer in the eyes called the tapetum lucidum which allows them to see well in low-light conditions.

In fact, many anglers look for walleyes at night since this is when most major feeding patterns occur. Their eyes also allow them to see well in turbid waters (stained or rough, breaking waters) which gives them an advantage over their prey. Thus, walleye anglers will commonly look for days and locations where there is a good “walleye chop” (i.e. rough water).

Walleyes are largely olive and gold in. The dorsal side of a walleye is olive, grading into a golden hue on the flanks. The olive/gold pattern is broken up by five darker saddles that extend to the upper sides.

The colour shades to white on the belly. The mouth of a walleye is large and is armed with many sharp teeth. The first dorsal and anal fins are spinous as is the operculum. Walleyes are distinguished from their close cousin the sauger by the white colouration on the lower lobe of the tail.

The walleye is a relatively r-selected species. They require fairly clean waters and are found most often in deep mesotrophic lakes and moderate- to low-gradient rivers. The walleye is considered a “cool water” species. Adults migrate to tributary streams in late winter or early spring to lay eggs over gravel and rock, although there are open water reef or shoal spawning strains as well.

Some populations are known to spawn on sand or on vegetation. A large female can lay up to 500,000 eggs and no care is given by the parents to the eggs or fry. The eggs are slightly adhesive and fall into spaces between rocks.

The incubation period for the embryos is temperature-dependent but generally lasts from 12 to 30 days. After absorbing the small amount of yolk, young walleyes begin feeding on invertebrates. After 40 to 60 days, juvenile walleyes become piscivorous. After this time, both juvenile and adult walleyes eat fish almost exclusively, frequently yellow perch or ciscoes, moving onto bars and shoals at night to feed.

The walleye is often considered to have the best tasting flesh of any freshwater fish, and, consequently, is fished recreationally and commercially. Because of its nocturnal feeding habits, it is most easily caught at night using live minnows or lures that mimic small fishes.

Most commercial fisheries for walleye occur in the Canadian waters of the Great Lakes but there are other locations as well. One of the best lakes for catching walleyes is Mille Lacs in central Minnesota.

Eyebrow Hair

How Are Eyebrow Hair Transplant Procedures Different?

It is not unusual for men to have hair transplant surgery for male pattern baldness. Even female baldness is discussed on commercials for hair transplant clinics. A less common use of hair transplant surgery is to replace eyebrow hair. However, this procedure is quite different from other hair transplant surgeries.

It is important to replace eyebrow hair that has fallen out because it is such an integral part of the human face. People realize that men have receding hair lines and balding on the tops of their heads. It is not out of the ordinary to see a woman with thinning hair. Yet, look at a person without eyebrows and the effect will be disturbing. Eyebrows are just expected.

Some people have hair transplant surgery to their eyebrows because the hair has simply fallen out over time. Others have thyroid disease or other diseases that affect their hair. A certain type of alopecia results in eyebrow loss. Excessive plucking can be a problem, too. Burns, tattoos, and infections can cause the eyebrow hair to fall out, and some people just are not able to grow eyebrows at all.

Hair transplant surgery for eyebrows is different because eyebrows are different from scalp hair. For one thing, the hair has a distinct growth pattern with each section of the eyebrow pointing in a different direction. The hair forms a sharp angle so that it grows out and then flat to the face. Scalp hair has a much gentler angle.

Eyebrow hairs do not grow in the same type of follicular units as scalp hair. Rather than growing in groups of one to four hairs, they are simply single strands of hair. You can see this if you look carefully in the mirror at your eyebrows. Hair transplant methods have to take this fact into account.

When doctors do hair transplant surgery to replace eyebrows, they have to make sure that they put the hairs in so that they will point in the natural hair direction. For this, the surgeons use very fine gauge needles. They must also use this to help the hair to lie flat.

Because the eyebrow hair is made of individual hairs, hair transplant surgery must involve creating those single units of hair. To do this, hair is taken from the scalp, just as in other hair transplant procedures. Then, the follicular units are divided into individual hair grafts. This is done with a stereomicroscope.

Inserting these micro-grafts is a very tricky business. Creating the correct angles is difficult. If the patient does not have straight hair, her curly hair must be inserted by rotating it so that it lies even with the curve of the brow that is being made.

One drawback to eyebrow hair transplant surgery is that eyebrow hair, which usually does not grow, will grow and need to be cut because it is actually scalp hair. Also, when the wounds heal, the lay of the eyebrows may change and not be so natural.

However, if you need hair transplant surgery to replace your eyebrows, it is usually a much better alternative than other choices you have. Eyebrows drawn in with eyebrow pencil do not look natural at all, and the option of going without eyebrows is unthinkable to many people. Hair transplant surgery may just be your best bet.

Home Remedies For Puffy Eyes

Eyes that are bright and sparkling attract attention. Puffy or red eyes are lack luster and make you look tired and ill. Puffy eyes are one of the most common beauty problems. Puffiness is often caused by the accumulation of fluids around the eye. Besides sleeping on your face, crying or lack of sleep, if you’re menstruating or pregnant, retaining food, eating salty food or drinking water less than two hours before bed, you’re likely to wake up with puffy eyes.

Rubbing aggravates irritation and tends to make your eyes puffier. For immediate relief, do not rub your eyes when you see them puffy.

Nature’s best ingredients for removing puffy eyes are cucumber and potato. Take a small raw potato or cucumber, slice it into small pieces and blend to a fine consistency. Strain the excess juice and reserve the pulp. Make a cup of basil tea and mix it well with the pulp. Pour the mixture into ice tray and freeze it. Whenever you have puffy or red eyes, dab the ice cube on your closed eyes for some time. Rinse your eyelids gently and pat dry.

Use your middle finger and gently press along the eyebrow and around the eye socket. This will stimulate the lymphatic system and help drain excess fluid. The swelling will reduce.

Take a rounded metal spoon and place it in your fridge for few minutes. When it gets cold, take it out and hold the rounded portion against your eye for few minutes. This helps in reducing the puffiness.

To make your red or sore eyes look healthy and sparkling, mix 2 tbsp water to a glass of mineral water. Bathe your eyes in this solution 3-4 times a day.

Apply a cold compress on your eyes such as cloth dipped in cold water or ice cubes in a wash cloth. When the cloth feels warm, dip it in cold water again or add more ice. Repeat this at least 4-5 times or till you feel the puffs under your eyes drained out.

Applying cold tea bag wrapped in tissue on closed eyes makes the skin taut and reduces puffiness. The natural astringent in tea – tannin works wonders.

Strips of grated potato or cucumber placed under the eyes helps to reduce the swelling.

Soak cotton wool pad either in iced water or ice cold milk. Lie down with dampened pads over your closed eyes. Replace the pads when warm. Continue to till puffiness reduces. This also brightens the whites of your eyes.

By drinking enough water, your body will stay hydrated and will reduce the puffiness around your eyes.

Make sure you get enough sleep with regular timings. Inadequate sleep shows on the eyes more than on any other part of the body. Sleep soothes the eyes and relieves fatigue.

Dip cotton wool pads in ice-cold rose water. Use them as eye pads over closed eyes.

Stiffly beat few egg whites. Add a drop or two of witch hazel. Apply to the face and under the eyes with a brush. This will make the skin feel tighter and look less puffy.

If you keep your head in an elevated position while you sleep, it discourages fluids from settling around your eyes.

Avoid eating salty foods like chips, pickles, drinking alcohol that retains fluids that settles in the eye area.

Hidden Spy Cameras

With the advent of reality shows, more and more people are becoming aware of the possibility of using hidden cameras to spy on other people for different reasons. Seeing people in their most unguarded moments can be fascinating. Camera manufacturers have taken advantage of the fact that people want to have hidden spy cameras similar to that of James Bond or the popular prank shows of television. This has since contributed to the steady rise of the hidden spy cameras industry.

While most hidden spy cameras are used to capture harmless pranks on video, there are other uses that are not as wholesome. Voyeurs spying on their neighbors and secretly filming other people having sexual intercourse shamelessly utilize hidden spy cameras. Hidden spy cameras, however, are not just for people with nefarious plans. Hidden spy cameras are also great tools to keep watch over your home and loved ones, thereby ensuring peace of mind. They can be used to make sure that your children are treated well by their nannies and babysitters. Similarly, they can also be used to catch criminals or philandering spouses. Hidden spy cameras are so effective and handy, in fact, that they are even used by law enforcement agencies, such as the police and the FBI.

Strings or No Strings Attached
Hidden spy cameras can either be wireless or wired. Wireless hidden spy cameras have concealed transmitters that send captured images to a remote recording equipment. Wired hidden spy cameras, on the other hand, are connected to recording equipment, like VCRs and PCs, through a physical cable. Wireless cameras rely on battery power, while the wired sort has the advantage of a ready power supply.

Its Hidden for a Reason
As the name suggests, hidden spy cameras are always concealed. They are usually hidden in everyday, nondescript objects, such as clocks, calculators, radios, teddy bears, and even plants.

Recent breakthroughs in wireless technology now allow hidden spy cameras to transmit videos real-time. So, not only can you see the action as it unfolds, you can take the necessary action as well. All you would need is a PC or laptop with an Internet access to view your hidden spy cameras. You can even do online surveillance, if you wish. You can also set up your hidden spy cameras in such a way that they trigger alarms or send emails to you when suspicious activities are captured.

If you don’t have this technology, however, don’t fret. Most hidden spy cameras can be set up to work unattended. They can record hours of video and can be plugged into your VCR or PC directly for review. This way, you don’t miss anything and can gather solid proof of misbehavior.

Hidden Or Not, You Still Want the Best
There are a few things to consider when investing on hidden spy cameras. You have to take into consideration the range of the video you wish to capture. Wide-angle viewing is also a nifty feature to consider. It allows you to view the captured video from several vantage points.

For image quality, you need to consider your hidden spy cameras’ resolution. Invest on hidden spy cameras that can automatically adjust to varying lighting conditions so you can get the clearest images possible. This way, you don’t miss what happens in your home or office when you’re out.

Help Protect Your Child’s Vision

For children, sunshine and warm weather equal outdoor activity. For parents interested in their children’s eye health, it’s also the right time to get kids sunglasses and protective eyewear.

Many parents don’t think about getting sunglasses for their kids, but everyone is at risk for eye damage as a result of exposure to the sun. And children might be at a higher risk because their developing eyes may be less protected from the sun’s ultraviolet rays than those of adults.

Wearing sunglasses that block UV rays can help prevent eye problems such as cataracts and macular degeneration – two leading causes of blindness. Since UV damage is cumulative over a lifetime, it’s important for kids to start wearing sunglasses as early as possible to potentially minimize this damage.

Sunglasses must block 99 percent to 100 percent of UVA and UVB rays to be effective. The darkness of the lens is not an effective indicator of how well the glasses protect eyes from UV light.

Consult an optometrist to choose the right sunglasses. They are the doctors who provide primary vision care, examining people’s eyes to diagnose vision problems and eye diseases.

Obtaining this expert advice can be as simple as visiting your local Wal-Mart or Sam’s Club Vision Center. Adjacent to each of the Vision Centers at these stores is an office staffed by knowledgeable, professional and licensed independent optometrists who can provide affordable and comprehensive eye examinations as well as prescriptions for glasses and contacts.

The American Optometric Association recommends comprehensive eye examinations by an eye doctor at 3 and 5 years of age for all children.

“Many children get a cursory eye check when they visit their pediatrician, but only an eye doctor is qualified to perform a comprehensive eye examination,” says Dr. Melissa Viker, an independent optometrist who practices next to a Wal-Mart Vision Center.

The optometrist can also offer guidance when it comes to eye protection. Annually there are more than 40,000 sports-related eye injuries – many to children. More than 90 percent of these injuries could be prevented by wearing proper eye protection, such as sports goggles, which are designed for impact resistance, unlike regular eye glasses that could break upon impact and possibly cause serious injury.

Eye protection should be worn during any sport that involves physical contact or a ball, bat, stick, racket or puck.

“A child’s vision is a precious commodity, but caring for it doesn’t have to be expensive,” says Viker. “Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club offer expert advice, low-cost examinations and a wide selection of affordable eyewear to help parents provide children with a lifetime of good eye care.”

Hello From Toronto

So my brother is in town, together with his wife and 2 friends from my little home town in Austria. It is everybody’s first time in North America and their initiation to Toronto. Just to give you ideas of dimensions: Austria has a population of about 9 million and the country extends about 900 km from east to west while the Greater Toronto area nowadays probably has about 4 to 5 million people and Lake Ontario alone is over 300 km long. The first thing my visitors noticed was the difference in size: the size of the city, the size of the lake, the size of cars, the size of supermarkets, and even of refrigerators.

On Sunday we started off with a little driving tour of Toronto where I first took my visitors down to the lakefront by the historic Art Deco style R.C. Harris Filtration Plant. All of them love water and to have a lake as big as an ocean so close by fascinated them. After a leisurely drive on Queen Street through the quaint Beaches neighbourhood we parked the car close to the St. Lawrence Market and started our walk around.

Since my brother is a chef and always loves to purchase market-fresh food, I initially took him to the St. Lawrence Market which always has an antique sale on Sunday. The food market is actually closed on Sunday. We checked out the wares from old furniture to cameras to various knick-knacks.

Our exploration continued westwards along Front Street past historic 19th century houses and of course past the famous triangular-shaped Flatiron Building which has a mural on its west side. Approaching Yonge Street we walked past the Hockey Hall of Fame, a historic Beaux-Arts former bank building, the magnificent Royal York Hotel, built in 1929, once the largest hotel in the British Commonwealth.

One of the things that fascinated my visitors most was how old and new can coexist right next to each other: shiny skyscrapers are located right beside historic sandstone churches. Our walking tour continued past Union Station, Toronto’s impressive central railway station, built between 1914 and 1927 as a joint construction project by the Canadian Pacific Railway and Grand Trunk Railway (now the Canadian National Railway). Its monumental scale, classical detail and rational, ordered planning were hallmarks of the style. The station is massive and takes up an entire block on Front Street between York Street and Bay Street. The Great Hall of the Station is 250 ft. long and 84 ft. wide.

Our walk continued further west on Front Street past the Convention Centre to the base of the CN Tower and the entrance to the Skydome, Toronto’s multi-purpose stadium with a retractable roof, now called the Rogers Centre. We then snaked our way up through the Entertainment District to Queen Street where we admired Osgoode Hall, built in the 1830s, and now an oasis of green in the city. An ornate iron fence, built in 1867, renowned for its peculiar “cow gates,” surrounds the property and its beautiful gardens. The cow gates in particular fascinated my visitors.

Our next stop was at New City Hall and Old City Hall, opened in 1899, which racked up construction costs of more than $2.5 million at the time which caused great controversy in those days. Continuing past the Bay Department Store on Queen we passed the Metropolitan United Church, an English style cathedral dating from 1872, whose churchyard was filled with people enjoying the warm day.

Once back in the car we drove through the U of T campus, my Alma Mater and we stopped briefly to check out Hart House and Kings College. Then we headed down to Chinatown at Spadina and Dundas and my visitors marvelled at this exotic, busy market area. Our last stop on the tour was Kensington Market, a lively little neighbourhood full of food and clothing stores and restaurants where we ended up picking up fresh vegetables, dry beans, and a variety of cheeses for some of the scrumptious meals to come. My brother, the chef, marvelled at the variety of food available here, combined with the inexpensive prices a food lover’s dream.

We took our loot home where my husband was waiting for us with a big brunch to strengthen ourselves for attending a birthday party of one of my friends that had the motto of “let out your inner child”. The party was unique in that it involved such time-honoured Toronto traditions as hitting a piñada while a bunch of adults were playing with water guns, chasing one another around the house with buckets of water dropping on the combatants from the second floor.

I think our visitors had a full day, from getting a first taste of Toronto, to participating in a rather eventful birthday party, their first impressions were very positive and they were looking forward to exploring more of this exciting city.

visual discrimination key to literacy

Sometimes the best thing you can do for your child’s early literacy development is simply to let them play. Turn off the TV and anything battery operated then let your child pick up their toys, build blocks or duplos, or manipulate puzzles or game pieces. Not only are you giving your child the gift of childhood, something we so often fail to do in today’s hectice, achievement-oriented world, but you are actually helping them build skills that are key to learning to read and write.

Hand-eye coordination is a necessary skill for written language and the best way to help your child develop this skill is to let them play with toys and activities that involve looking at, using, and discriminating a number of elements. Puzzles are obviously a great activity for this but so are manipulative toys such as blocks, duplos, and magnetix.

My son just spent over an hour this evening playing dominos with his father — OK they weren’t so much playing as setting up complex pattterns and then knocking them down — but I didn’t tell them they were engaged in a preliteracy activity. They were just having fun together.

Studies have shown that spending time on hand-eye coordination activities improves children’s ability to learn to read and lessens the difficulty they face during the process. In fact engaging in a variety of craft activities, which most kids love, can be very beneficial so add play dough, stickers, and glue sticks to your list of educational supplies.

Research shows that early practice of hand-eye coordination activities reduces the risk for reading difficulties.

ACTIVITIES TO ENCOURAGE

Puzzles help develop hand-eye coordination because learning to control hands and fingers according to information received from sight is a coordination skill that aids children in early attempts at reading and writing. Determining out which piece goes where, working to fit pieces into place by making adjustments, and seeing a sequence develop in an organized pattern can be a great learning experience as well as very satisfying for children.

Puzzles, matching games, and the like are also important to help children learn visual discrimination. Visual discrimination is the ability of the brain to quickly tell the difference among visually similar letters, like “p,” “b,” and “q” or between words such as “was” and “saw.” Students with difficulty making these distinctions often struggle with learning to read, write, and spell. Playing games, engaging in activities, or with toys that help children discriminate among similar objects can be fun for the child and help them master an important preliteracy skill. My son loves to help his father sort change before rolling it to be deposited at the bank. Sure we could use an electronic sorter but our son loves to engage in the activity and it is a valuable learning experience for him.

Visual discrimination can often be learned with your child’s existing toys. Matchbox cars, dolls, and action figures all offer the opportunity for your child to learn visual discrimination.

Encourage children to work their wrist and finger muscles as well as work on their coordination and small-motor skills to help prepare them for the handwriting practice in their future. Activities to help with these goals include legos and other building sets, playdough, puzzles, pegboards, beads and other table toys. These fun, natural activities help children improve their cognitive and fine motor skills without frustration or boredom.

My son engages in many activities every day that encourage hand-eye coordination and visual discrimination. I don’t suggest the activities to him. I make the toys and manipulatives available to him and he chooses them on his own. The activities vary he may go an entire week building and rebuilding his wooden train set every day and then the next week his magnetix set dominates his play time. Some days he plays with both together and pulls in his duplos and wooden blocks for added fun. It doesn’t matter to me which activity he chooses because I know he is having fun, challenging his imagination, and learning.

Hairstyle and Eyewear Secrets

The following information is an excerpt from the DVD series Love My Image.

Hairstyle and Eyewear Secrets

If you’ve ever struggled with trying to find the right hairstyle (and I think most women have at some point in their lives), you’re about to discover how easy it really can be! If you’ve given up on your hair you’re about to read some encouraging information. You see, just like choosing the right style of glasses, the right hairstyle is based on one key principle: the shape of your face. That’s it.

Now that you know that, all you need to do is learn the basic “rules” that go with your particular face shape. First though, let’s talk about the different face shapes & the characteristics of each.

1. The Round Face: this is a full-looking face with a round hairline and chin. The cheeks/ears tend to be the widest point.

2. The Square Face: this face shape has a strong, square jaw line and usually a square hairline.

3. The Oval Face: the oval shape has a gently rounded hairline and is only slightly narrower at the jaw than at the temples. Very balanced.

4. The Diamond Face: the widest point on this face is at the cheekbones, and is equally narrow at the jaw line & forehead.

5. The Oblong Face: this face is long and slender. The area just below the cheekbones and the forehead are about the same width. Could have a high forehead or a narrow chin.

6. The Triangular Face: has a dominant jaw line and narrows at the cheekbones and temples.

7. The Heart Shaped Face: the face is widest at the hairline and temples and narrows to a small chin. The opposite of the triangular face.

Now that we’ve covered the characteristics of the different face shapes…

Let’s Get Started!

As we discuss this further we’ll talk about some do’s and don’ts for hairstyling and picking out the proper eye wear.

The Round Face: The goal of the person with the round face is to lengthen it. This can be done by adding height and fullness at the crown. Layering will help to achieve this. An off centre part will help to make the face appear longer. The rest of the cut should stay close to the side of the head to avoid adding more fullness.

Length: A round face can wear a shorter cut but hair should be swept back. Or a cut longer than the chin will also work.

Avoid: Hair that’s chin length with a rounded line, like a bob. This will only make the face appear even more round. Bangs cut straight across the forehead and short crops. Also avoid a centre part. It tends to accentuate the roundness.

GLASSES: The best shaped frame for the round face is a rectangular one. This frame contrasts the round face, making it appear thinner and longer. Frames with clear bridges make close-set eyes appear further apart. Frames with higher, coloured temples will lengthen the appearance of the round face.

The Square Face: The goal of the person with a square face is to soften it. Hair with lots of waves and roundness will help to achieve this. If your hair is straight you may want to consider a soft perm to offset the straight lines of your face. Layers and wispy bangs work well. Off centre parts and height at the crown will help to elongate the face.

Length: Short to medium length hair works best for this shaped face. Long hair, straight bangs and centre parts tend to emphasize the square features. Just make sure your cut ends just above or a little below your chin.

Avoid: Centre parts and hairstyles ending at the jaw line.

GLASSES: Look for frames where the lower part is curved with some weight on top as well. Centred temples are desirable. Look for a frame wider than the widest part of the face. This will soften the angular appearance of the square face. Stay away from rectangular frames.

The Oval Face: Most any hairstyle looks good on an oval face. The goal is not to hide your features. Slicked back styles also work very well. Length: You can wear short, medium or longer styles.

Avoid: Remember not to cover up your balanced features with your hair.

GLASSES: Look for frames that will maintain the balance of your oval face. Frames should be as least as wide as the broadest part of your face. You can wear round, square or rectangular shapes. Avoid frames with low or “dropped” temples. This will detract from your face’s natural features.

The Diamond Face: You also have balanced features so you can wear a variety of styles. If you are going with a shorter style make sure you have weight in the nape area to help balance your high cheekbones and delicate chin.

Length: You can wear short, medium or longer styles.

Avoid: Hiding your features with your hair.

GLASSES: Select a frame that will accent the forehead and jaw and draw attention away from the temple. Choose frames that are decorated along the top. Rimless frames are also nice. You can wear glasses with geometric or oval shapes to minimize the distance between your temples.

The Oblong Face: The person with the oblong/rectangular face wants to make it appear fuller. Try to create fullness at the sides of your face. Layers will help to achieve this and to add softness to the lines of your face. Try off centre parts and wispy bangs to shorten the appearance of length.

Length: Short to medium lengths work best.

Avoid: Longer styles tend to drag the oblong face down, making it appear longer. Also avoid straight hairstyles and centre parts.

GLASSES: Choose frames with equal top to bottom depth and decorative or contrasting temples. Avoid frames that have too much weight on the bottom. They tend to make the face appear even longer. Round or square frames work well but make sure they don’t extend beyond the widest part of the face.

The Triangular Face: Choose styles that are fuller at the temples and taper at the jaw. Lots of layers will help you to achieve this. This style will help to balance your prominent jaw. Off centre parts work best for you. Also hair can be tucked behind ears, still working to achieve the fullness at the temple area.

Length: Shorter hair works best to help balance the prominent jaw line. If wearing long hair, make sure it’s pulled back at the nape.

Avoid: Centre parts, longer hairstyles that have fullness at the jaw- gives the appearance of extra weight in the face.

GLASSES: Look for a frame that is slightly top heavy. Decorative accents on top of the frame will draw attention away from the wide jaw line. A frame that has no lower rim is an excellent choice.

The Heart Shaped Face: Chin length styles work best. This creates a more balanced look, adding fullness where you need it most. An off-centre part is a good choice. Wispy bangs and soft layers swept forward work well. If you have a dramatic heart shaped face (high cheekbones) make sure you have weight in the nape area to help balance the look of the dramatic cheekbones and delicate chin.

Length: Chin length works best.

Avoid: Short, full styles-they emphasize the upper face, making the chin look even narrower. Height at the crown- makes the chin look narrower and longer. Avoid severe looks.

GLASSES: An excellent choice is light coloured or rimless frames with low temples. Frames that are wider at the bottom will also help to balance the face by drawing the eye away from the wider temple area.

Now that we’ve covered off what hairstyles and glasses work best for each particular face shape, don’t be afraid to make some changes to your image. If you’re not sure where to start, start small. Maybe start by styling your hair differently or changing your frames.

If you’re ready to make some big changes, talk to your stylist about what kind of cut you want. You’ve got the right information now. Don’t rely on your stylist to choose the appropriate style for you. Good luck and have fun!

Guide to eye surgery

We all desire to have a perfect vision. However with growing age or any unfortunate mis-happening an individual’s vision may get distorted. But today science has blessed mankind with several wonderful techniques to rectify the faulty vision.

1. Flap Procedure treatments- are those where the surgeon removes the flap in the cornea to have an access to the tissue underneath. Some of the well known Flap treatments are as follows-

· LASIK refractive eye surgery is quite a commendable eye surgery these days. The term LASIK stands for ‘laser in situ keratomileusis’ surgery. This treatment is basically meant to treat nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism (misshapen cornea). LASIK provides a correct vision through the use of a laser by reshaping the cornea and changing its focusing power. LASIK usually takes less than one minute per eye. In USA LASIK surgeries have been performed since 1993.

· Contemporary technique of LASEK or Laser Epithelial Keratoileusis surgery is also widely in use nowadays. LASEK is akin to LASIK refractive eye surgery. But unlike LASIK, in LASEK the surgeon cuts a flap in the epithelium only instead of through the epithelium and part of the stroma. After this the surgeon loosens the edges of the flap with the help of alcohol. The cases that are too sensitive to be treated by LASIK i.e. where people have thin or flat corneas are operated under the LASEK. Though LASEK is quite beneficial it has few shortcomings over LASIK. For instance the after LASEK surgery the patient feels uncomfortable for a long time and in comparison to LASIK, LASEK takes more time to heal.

· Epi-LASIK surgery is also a form of LASEK where the flap is removed only at the epithelium without the use of any blade or alcohol. In Epi-LASIK the surgeon makes use of a separator, epikeratome that creates an epithelial sheet. Since there is no alcohol used in this entire process, the patient feels less pain in this surgery and heals relatively faster.

· ALK or the Automated Lamellar Keratoplasty surgery is meant to treat the problem of nearsightedness and mild farsightedness. In ALK firstly the surgeon cuts a flap in the stroma. Then with the use of a microkeratome he removes the material under the flap. This removal is not done in case ALK is taken up to treat far-sightedness. Usually it takes less than an hour to do the ALK eye surgery.

2. Photoablation Technique- this requires the use of ultraviolet radiation to remove the eye tissues. Photoablation is basically the step that follows LASIK and LASEK surgeries.

· PRK or Photorefractive Keratectomy is a surgery that mainly treats nearsightedness, mild farsightedness and astigmatism. Here the surgeon makes the use of an excimer laser to remove the tissue from the surface of the cornea. The tissue ablation is taken up to give a new shape and minimize the vision problem. PRK is not a lengthy procedure. It usually takes less than one minute per eye.

You want your subject to instantly grab the attention of your subscriber and get them to be intrigued to open up your mail. Remember, it is not necessarily true that a subscriber opens up subscribed mails.

A good subject must always be tickling the curiosity of your recipient. It must literally force the recipient to open the mail. A certain emotion must be ignited and get them to open the mail. It is essential to use specific words to get the reaction you need. Keep in mind that the recipient or subscribers spends only a few seconds looking over each subject of the e-mails he receives. You must grab your reader’s attention right away.

There are many forms you can use for your subject. You can provide a subject that says your e-mail contains content that teaches them tips and methods on certain topics. An example of this is using keywords and keyword phrases such as, “How to” , “tips”, “Guides to”, Methods in and others like that.

You can also put your subject in a question form. These may include questions like, “Are you sick and tired of your job?” Or “Is your boss always on your case?” Try to stay on the topic that pertains to your site so that you’ll know that your subscribers have signed up because they are interested in that topic. This form of subject is very effective because they reach out to your recipients emotions. When they have read the question on your subject, their mind starts answering the question already.

You can also use a subject that commands your reader. Statements such as “Act now and get this once in a lifetime opportunity”, or “Double, triple and even quadruple what you are earning in one year”. This type of subject deals with the benefits your company provides with your product and services.

You may also use breaking news as your subject to intrigue your subscriber. For example, if you deal with car engine parts you can write in your subject, “Announcing the new engine that uses no gasoline, It runs on water”. This creates curiosity with the reader and will lead them to open the mail and read on.

Got Your Eye On An Iphone

The iPhone goes on sale on June 29th, are you ready? Read the latest tips on snagging your own iPhone.

Do you have your heart set on an iPhone? You may want to get in line now. A May poll by research firm M:Metrics revealed that about 19 million U.S. cell phone users are ready to fork over as much as $599 for the new iPhone. That’s almost what Bernstein Research predicts Apple will sell through 2008.

The new iPhone will go on sale June 29 and all indications are the demand will be huge. AT&T is hiring 2000 temporary workers to help with the launch. Apple CEO Steve Jobs has forecast sales of 10 million iPhones in the first 18 months –a conservative estimate based on independent research.

AT&T nabbed the iPhone exclusive early on. M:Metrics analyst Mark Donovan said “Two-thirds of the people who said they have a strong interest in buying an iPhone currently subscribe to AT&T’s three biggest competitors.” He added “In this mature market, it’s all about stealing customers from competitors.”

Even the hefty price tag – as much a $599 with a two year contract – does not seem to discourage potential buyers. It is still unclear what plan AT&T will require with the iPhone but you can be sure the lure of technology will overpower the fear of the unknown. Donovan noted that once the initial group gets its iPhones contract pricing may be a barrier to some buyers.

Because of the youthful demographic, T-Mobile customers seem to have the most interest in changing. According to the M:Metrics survey, 12.5% of T-Mobile subscribers expressed a high interest in buying the iPhone, compared to 8.1% for Sprint Nextel customers and 6.7% for Verizon users.

Here are a few iPhone shopping tips.

• Get your www.CellForCash.com transaction started right away. You can have your box by the time you get your iPhone and some cash in your pocket to help you get past the sticker shock.

• AT&T spokesman John Kampfe says “The iPhone will be available…only in AT&T-owned retail stores, Apple retail stores and through Apple’s online store.” Check out Apple’s online store on June 29. According to Steve Jobs the iPhone is set to go on sale at 6 p.m. that day. But forget trying AT&T’s site; the company says it won’t be selling iPhones online, at least initially.

• Call a few local AT&T stores and see if you can get on their waiting lists or if your local sales representative has any tips about how that particular store is handling requests.

• Show up early at an Apple store or company-owned AT&T store before they open on June 29. The big question is how many phones each store will stock.

• Wait until the June 29 launch mania dies down and hope that AT&T and Apple decide to allow locally owned AT&T agents to sell the iPhone.

AT&T Inc. has spent $50 million on its network in anticipation of the heightened activity expected to follow the iPhone’s debut on the 29th, anyone willing to break their existing contract can expect to pat $175 on top of the cost of the new gadget.

Apple is hyping this product like no other and it’s far from over. Stay tuned for more info as we get it.

Golf Accessories In The Form Of Eyewear

If you’re going to be hitting the golf course and enjoying yourself out in nature, you will probably be loaded up with quite a few pieces of golf equipment and accessories. Having useful golf accessories will always be a very helpful part of the sport, as long as you don’t overlook any of the necessary components. Out there in the sun for so long, many people find themselves wishing they had brought their sunglasses along. If you bring good sunglasses along, you will be glad that you included this invaluable golf accessory. There are many benefits to having sunglasses with you at all time, from game benefits to health benefits. Read on to find out about some of the reasons why pro golfers never leave home without sunglasses. You might change your ways and keep your glasses with you at all time from now on.

“The sun was in my eyes” might sound like nothing more than a lame excuse for a poor shot, but sometimes it rings quite true. The direct glare of the sun can completely ruin your shot, and sunglasses are able to cure this problem fairly effectively. A strong pair of glasses will render the sun ineffective on your eyes, and won’t allow it to attack your weak point for massive damage. On brighter days, the sun doesn’t even need to be shining directly into your eyes. The sheer brightness can cause you to squint and completely misjudge a shot before you make it. The sunglasses will make all of this better, and improve your accuracy overall.

The good thing about sunglasses is that despite being incredibly useful, they also have a certain amount of fashion appeal. Many think of sunglasses as a very fashionable accessory to any outfit, and they have been popularized by so many movies and characters that they have quite a large fan base. If you want to use your glasses to these ends as well, you may have to look for a special brand. Almost all glasses are useful in blocking the sun from hitting your eyes, but far fewer are useful in looking hip. If you ask an employee at the store of your choice, you will be able to get advice as to which sunglasses makers are the most hip in today’s culture.

Picking out the glasses is fairly easy. Just go to your local clothing or sporting goods store, or any other store that sells glasses like the ones you want. When picking out the specific glasses, you will want to look at the rating of what level of protection they offer to you. Since you are trying to protect your eyes from the sun as well as shade them from it, you will want a fairly high nanometer rating. The higher the nanometer rating in a pair of glasses, the more protection you will receive from UVB and UVA rays. You also want to pick glasses that are made of a high quality that will not fall apart or break easily. The material of the glasses is very important. While you want something strong, you also want something light that will make you forget you are wearing them. You may have to spend a surprising amount of money for your sunglasses, but you will find that it is worth it when you realize what a different it makes in your golf game.

There you have it. Now you should have all of the information that you need to go out and buy a pair of sunglasses that will really make things better for you. Getting the right pair will improve so much in your personal health and in your game that it is almost (but not quite) scary. So get out there today and start finding out what all the fuss is about sunglasses, and how you can get involved in the rising wave.

Glyconutrition

Glyconutrition and the silence in Parliament:

Sir Isaac Newton is not generally associated with medicine and biology, much less glyconutrition. Newton lived 1642– 1727, a period now referred to as the Age of Newton. However, you don’t get an entire age named after you unless you have done something spectacular…like inventing the calculus…or discovering the law of gravity and the laws of optics.

His impact was so enormous, even in his own lifetime, people of all stations in life wanted to get just a glimpse of him…or hear anything he had to say. Problem was, he was very sensitive and shy, so words didn’t come easily, ergo, he didn’t say much.

Except in the lecture hall of the University, where very occasionally he did lecture. (Granted, not on glyconutrition but we haven’t gotten there yet).

There…he did open his mouth. Imagine, sitting through a lecture of the world’s greatest scientist, who didn’t know when to stop lecturing on subjects his students couldn’t understand. That may be the real origin of the expression, “In every fat book there is a thin book trying to get out.”

In any event, because of his enormous popularity as the greatest mathematician and scientist in history, he was elected to the Parliament of England. I guess people just figured if they could get him involved in politics, he might say something which they could go home and quote.

So, he sat in Parliament year after year and never uttered a peep. Not a single syllable. At least, not until one day, in the middle of an intensely debated issue in Parliament, Sir Isaac suddenly stood up. Immediately, Parliament was silent as all eyes were upon Sir Newton. Mustering such abilities as he was capable of producing for the drama of the moment, Sir Isaac turned sheepishly and asked that the window be closed because of the draft.

Not a particularly moving event. But, it became buzz nonetheless.

Glyconutrition: Accessing the nutrients is a key to health.

So what does all of this have to do with glyconutrition?

Actually, we don’t remember Isaac having anything to do with glyconutrition. There’s a good reason for that. Medical science still hadn’t discovered bacteria under the microscope, let alone the 8 sugars which comprise the key molecules in glyconutrition, observable only under the electron microscope.

But, Sir Isaac and the people of “merry ole England” were unconsciously accessing glyconutrition far more readily than we do today…through their diet:

· Glyconutrition supplied the essential ingredients of protection for newborns who were breast fed. The sugars involved with glyconutrion are present in surprising quantities for the baby.

· Garlic, certain saps and quite a few of the herbs rich in glyconutrition, were part of the diet in merry ‘ole England of that day.

· England didn’t then resort to “green harvests”, processed foods, chemical preservatives which destroy glyconutrition. Indeed, our society depletes the soil, processes food for taste and convenience and introduces toxins that overwhelm our immune system. What little glyconutrition we do get, is simply not enough to do the job.

· Instead, glyconutrition was not processed out of the corn, oats, barley, wheat, leeks, carrots, radishes, pears, and red wine of that society. Granted they had other problems (like the Black Death), but not for lack of glyconutrition.

· Fruits are loaded with pectins (such as apple pectins) and are instrumental in providing glyconutrition.

It is, for that reason, “merry ole England” did not see the huge epidemics in so many categories of diseases as we do today:

· Overactive Immune deficiencies include food allergies, pollen and grass allergies, asthma, eczema which result from severe lack of glyconutrition, producing a misguided inflammation. In short, because glyconutrition is lacking, our immune system over reacts to certain foreign substances in our body, which normally it should be able to easily handle. Without glyconutrition in proper supply, asthma and allergies produce exaggerated inflammatory responses.

· Underactive immune systems – from lack of glyconutrition – can produce colds and flu, cancers of all types, bronchitis, ear infections, shingles, strep, TB, urinary yeast infection, hepatitis B and C, sinusitis, and Candida. Again, lack of glyconutrition leads to the incapacity of the immune system to regulate itself properly. The 1985 issue of Cancer Research, scientists noted the fact that cancer cells in the stomach and colon were associated with a lack of specific sugars (glyconutrition) or deformed sugar molecules.

· Auto-immune disease such as Lupus, Rheumatoid arthritis, MS, Psoriasis, and Type I & Type II Diabetes occur when the immune system goes into overdrive attacking healthy cell tissue. Such activity is linked to low levels of specific elements found in glyconutrition.

· Inflammatory disorders such as Fibromyalgia, ulcers, heart disease, colitis, are linked to improper levels of glyconutrition in the diet. For example, in the January-March 1998 issue of Integrative Physiological and Behavioral Science, tested subjects took supplements of Aloe Vera extract (containing glyconutrition compounds -especially, acetylated mannans) and reported significant improvement in the symptoms accompanying Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. (Miracle Sugars, Rita Elkins, M.H. woodland Publishing, p. 33).

Glyconutrition: Ho-hum?

Most people of his era were amazed at what Isaac Newton produced. They were so spellbound by anything he did, a whole Parliament stopped mid-sentence to hear what he would say next.

Today, on the other hand, I am amazed at the fact that glyconutrition holds the answer to so many maladies – perhaps thousands- …and, so few are even aware of the subject. Most doctors don’t know about glyconutrion despite the fact that glyconutrition is listed in the PDR (Physicians Desk Reference), the “bible” of the medical world, used by 99% of all doctors.

One thing about good old Sir Isaac. When he made a discovery, he knew what he had and he used it, bettering the world in which he lived. An entire generation could see the progress and named an era for him.

Will we do the same with glyconutrition…what may be the greatest medical discovery in the medical history of the last century?

Getting Ready for the Eye Opening

Walleye season is just about to open and the first day is always an eye-opening experience for all. You need to start preparing in order to enjoy maximum fishing pleasure. Although you do this every year, you still end up forgetting one or two essentials. For a perfect start this year, use the following tips as a checklist of things to do and bring.

Checking Your Fishing Gear and Equipment for the Walleye Season

Fishing License – Don’t wait for trouble to come knocking at your door. Apply early, submit your requirements promptly, and keep your fishing license together with the rest of your fishing gear.

Tackle Box – You can’t catch walleye without bait so make sure your tackle box contains all the necessary equipment: live and plastic bait, jigs and rigs, hooks, slip bobbers, split shots, hooks, plugs, crank baits, and crawler harnesses. Keep in mind that the quantity of bait and other tackling essentials you’ll bring with you will greatly depend on when and where you’ll be fishing.

Fishing Rods, Reels, and Lines – For fishing novices, keep in mind that this recreational activity is just like playing golf or tennis. There are certain rods, reels, and lines that work better in certain situations.

Fishing Nets – Consider taking with you several types and sizes of fishing nets to meet all possible fishing needs you’ll encounter on the opening day of walleye season.

Troubleshooting Kit – Take a pair of pliers with you: this is the ultimate fishing tool that will help you solve lots of small and big troubles while you’re fishing for walleye. Make sure you also have a filet knife, side planers, fish chains, nail clippers, forceps, and hook sharpeners included in your troubleshooting kit.

Locating Tools – To help you search for more walleye, make sure you’ve got with you fish markers, a portable fish finder, compass, head lamps, fish scale, fishing maps, and tape measure.

Electronic Equipment – Have a camera with you at all times to keep photographic evidence and remembrances of your catches. Make sure you’ve got an extra electric motor ready for emergency needs. If possible, have GPS and batteries as well.

Comfort – To be able to fish more comfortably and successfully, make sure you’re wearing fishing boots and you’ve got life jackets and rain gear ready in cases of emergency. A pair of fishing gloves, a bottle of mosquito repellent (one that won’t be easily washed off by water, preferably), sunscreen and sunglasses, all-purpose rags, and a small bucket for your dumping needs. Pillows and sleeping bags are also necessary if you’re staying the whole day. There’ll be times when you’ll need to take a short nap while waiting for some walleye to take the bait.

Consider any special health conditions you may have. If you are wearing contact lenses, be sure to take with you all your supplies.

Consider bringing means to entertain yourself especially if you’re fishing on your own. Take with you a couple of books, a portable DVD or music player, or playing cards. Other essentials you could bring are garbage bags, a knife, axe, and flashlight.

Food – If it’s going to be a long trip, decide if you wish to go to the bank once in a while to eat. If not that, check if you’ve got all your cooking supplies. Have your coolers ready, a bottle opener, coffee maker, ice, eating utensils, plates and glasses, and sealable bags.

Boat – Have a professional give your boat a thorough checkup at least a month before the opening of walleye season to ascertain if it’s ready to face another fun but challenging voyage. Make sure you’ve got boat seats, anchors, and an adequate supplies of oil or gas. Take a repair kit on board and make sure you know the basic troubleshooting solutions for common boating problems.

If you’re fishing in a new area, make sure your boat is capable of meeting the expected current strength, depth, and weather conditions.

Medical Kit – Besides the usual essentials of a basic medical kit, take with you as well a couple of painkillers, moist towelettes, tissue paper, and allergy medicine since you’ll be spending a lot of time outdoors.

General Concerns – Of course, preparing for the opening of walleye season isn’t limited to checking your gear and equipment. Familiarize yourself with the rules and requirements as well.

Birds Eye Look

MCSE boot camps have its supporters and its detractors. Some people do not understand why you should have to spend money on boot camp when you can get the MCSE study materials yourself at a fraction of the camp price. However, who has the willpower to actually sit through a self-imposed MCSE training? Not too many people! That is what the MCSE boot camps are for.

These boot camps are typically an intense two-week long MCSE training course that prepares you for the MCSE exams. Some companies that conduct boot camps offering Microsoft certification, especially the MCSE, guarantee that you will pass your MCSE exams. If you happen to fail, they will usually issue a voucher to try it again. For many people who attend these MCSE boot camps, it is preferable to have an intense two weeks with little to distract you rather than drawing out the classes for weeks with outside influences like work and family interfering with study time. Sure, being gone for two weeks is a temporary hassle, but you will have your certification in a fraction of the time.

Did you catch the being gone for two weeks bit? You can probably find a boot camp near your home, but most likely you will end up attending an MCSE boot camp away from your home, far enough away where it is not worth it to commute. Two weeks away from home? That doesn’t sound like a picnic! But just think of the rewards you will reap after trudging through all that MCSE training and taking the MCSE exams.

If you are lucky, your company will pick up the tab on your Microsoft certification. Paying on your own is a major investment, usually a few thousand dollars depending on where the location is and if hotel and meals are included in the price. For your money, you will get a tough instructor, an MCSE drill sergeant for lack of a better description. That instructor’s reputation is on the line, so he or she will be motivated to ensure your success. That is why the success rate for these MCSE boot camps is high, in some places as high as 95%!

For your investment, you will have numerous MCSE training sessions in Networking Basics as well as learning about the infrastructure of a network. You will study security design, directories and how to manage Windows network environments. Hands-on training in learning labs with after-hours access for extra practice is the norm. Practice MCSE exams are also given out as a study tool and to also help prepare you for your own test time.

Microsoft certifications are here to stay and the MCSE is a popular avenue to travel. If you have got the time and can swing the cost, MCSE boot camps will definitely give you a boost into a new career.

Lasik Eye Surgery

Lasik surgery is a dream come true for many people. It can restore their vision to 20/20 or better. Now let’s get realistic. How effective is lasik eye surgery? Can it really repair everyone’s eyes to perfect 20/20 vision or better? Can you really throw your glasses and contact lenses away, never to have to worry about them again? The answers to these questions may surprise you. The truth is that not everyone gets 20/20 vision when the surgery is complete. The sad thing is that no matter how much research you do, getting exact statistics is impossible. A statistical chart on www.corneatexas.com shows that they have a 96% success rate. According to www.aapecs.com only about 55% of people have 20/20 vision after surgery; however 92% have 20/40 vision. 20/40 is the minimum vision requirement in the United States to get a drivers license.

You can see that statistics can be easily manipulated to mean anything you want them to mean. You can not base your decision on having surgery simply based on the statistics that your doctor gives you. Remember that he is in business. You are a sale to him. He will tell you what you want to make a sale. Statistics should be considered, but not be the basis for your decision.

Everyone’s eye is different. The decision to go ahead with surgery should be done after have a consultation with a competent doctor. Don’t go to someone you don’t know or trust, especially if they are going to be the one doing the surgery. They just want your money. If you have a regular doctor that you have been going to for years his/her opinion would be valuable. Over the years you have learned to trust this doctor and his consultation has a better chance of being unbiased.

Do not trust anyone who claims you can throw away your glasses forever or that they guarantee 20/20 vision or your money back. There are no guarantees in medicine. The truth is most people still need glasses when they are done with surgery. You may need a weaker prescription, but still you may need corrective lenses. You have to accept that risk before going into surgery.

Many people go into surgery not expecting or even knowing about any of the side effects or complications. You need to research and understand these complications before having the surgery. You also need to ask yourself, “What can I reasonably expect from this surgery.” You also need to know what to expect after the surgery. Although the surgery may only take about 20 minutes, the recovery can take up to six months.

No, you will not have patches on your eyes and you won’t spend six months in pain waiting for your eyes to heal. But it will take about six months to know if the surgery truly worked. If it did not work, your eyes may go back to their original shape within those six months. Also within that six month window, some of the negative side effects may manifest themselves. The first six months is critical. If you experience anything out of the ordinary, report it to your doctor immediately. They key to repairing any potential damage is timing. Don’t wait if you feel pressure behind your eyes, or extreme dry eye, or reduced vision, or glares, or anything that is not normal. Your doctor may still be able to fix these problems, but not if you don’t tell him or wait too long to tell him.

The honest truth is that you may still need glasses or contacts when it’s all said and done with. You need to know the risks involved and have realistic expectations. Going in prepared will help guide you through the entire process. “Knowledge is Power.” The saying may sound cliché, but it has always held true. Do your homework first. Research the surgery. Research the side effects. Research your doctor. Ask questions, even if you think it is a stupid question. It never hurts to ask questions and educate your self. A competent doctor will answer you questions honestly and not just sell you on the miracles of not wearing glasses ever again. Then make an educated decision about having the surgery. Then you can walk into surgery with confidence.

Get Ready For Your Fall Walleye Trophy Fish

The Walleye sporting fish is a freshwater “Perciform” fish native to Southern and middle Northern regions of Canada as well as to the contiguous northern regions of the United States Walleye or sometimes known as “Walley fish” is a North American relative of the European pikeperch. In addition to make it somewhat confusing the common North American walleye is sometimes referred to as the yellow walleye to distinguish it from the extinct blue walleye. The “Blue Walleye” was a prolific fish of the Great Lakes- predominantly Lakes Erie and Ontario.

This different species of fish “The Blue Walleye” was a prolific fish to the extent that it was heavily commercially fished in the Great Lakes fishing regions.

Unfortunately the popularity and delicacy of this fish lead to its demise and extinction. Up to 50 % of the commercial fish catch of the area was of the Blue Walleye variety fish.

Over fishing in the 1950’s led to a population crash of the Blue Walleye fishery. In the 1960’s the introduction of the Zebra Mussel into the Great Lakes Catchment area was the final straw. By 1965 the Blue Walleye of the Great Lakes Fisheries was pronounced extinct for all practical purposes – although an occasional fish is caught by anglers from time to time.

In some parts of its range, the walleye is also known as the walleyed pike, yellow pike or pickerel (esp. in English-speaking Canada), although the fish is related neither to the pikes nor to the pickerels, both of which are members of the family Esocidae.

Walleyes are usually larger than perch fish and can be distinguished from the perch fish by the Walleye’s more distinctive scale colors. The more specific fish descriptive term can be said to be a more specific description of a type of Walleye which is also referred to as “Yellow Pike” or “Pickerel” fish. The fish name of “Pickerel” is well established as a description in Canadian areas such as the “lake Winnipeg “or “Red River” Pickerel. In actuality it actually is not a proper term as true Walleye fish are not pike fish or pickerel fish. Yet the name has stuck. If nothing else the term “Yellow Walleye” is the correct term which also distinguishes the Walleye fish from the extinct blue walleye varieties.

Walleye fish show some variations across different watersheds. What gives the Walleye fish its distinctiveness and the word “Eye” in its name is the trait of the Walleye fish is the luminescence of their eyes. Like feline cats the eyes of Walleye fish reflect light. This is most noticeable at night.

Walleye fish can see well for hunting their prey in low light conditions.. Walleye fish actually have a specific light gathering layer in the anatomy of their eyes.

As a result Walleye fish feed at night. Knowledgeable anglers and fisherman know that often the best time to fish for them is at night. Even better the fish can also see well in stained or rough turbid waters, giving them a real advantage over other competitive fish species and the prey of the Walleye fish as well.

Where to best catch your “King Walleye”? Walleye fish can be found lurking in turbid waters However where the natural habitat of Walleyes is, particularly deep commonly clear water lakes and ponds with beds of submerged aquatic plants and medium levels of nutrients. Lastly Walleyes are best caught when the water temperature is cool – below 55 degrees Fahrenheit (12.78 degrees Celsius) All in all the fall season is when Walleye fishing can be the most fun.

Laser Eye Surgery

LASIK is a well-renowned refractive surgery procedure, and hence often takes center stage in a lot many discussions pertinent to refractive surgery. A technology so advanced as that wielded by LASIK often boggles the mind. Patients planning to undergo LASIK surgery will have several questions requiring elaborate answers. It is imperative that all lurking doubts be elucidated on prior to going in for surgery. Following is a brief list of frequently asked questions about LASIK.

How do I know if I am a viable candidate for LASIK? – The best way to determine your candidature is to have a comprehensive preoperative examination, which discovers any condition that might preclude LASIK. In general, you must be above 18, having healthy eyes with low to moderate refractive error (for best results), and should not be suffering from any eye ailments. Moreover, pregnant or nursing women are advised to postpone LASIK surgery until after there prescription stabilizes.

How long does the procedure last? – LASIK is a fairly expedited procedure. The whole process is over within half an hour or less.

Does LASIK hurt? – LASIK involves virtually no pain. The surgeon typically administers anesthetic eye drops and a mild sedative prior to the surgery.

Can I drive back home after the surgery? – No. It is advised that you arrange for someone to drive you back home, since your vision would be blurry immediately after the surgery.

Are the effects of LASIK eye surgery permanent? – Yes. LASIK is an irreversible procedure. It might take around 3 to 6 months for the complications, if any, to subside and the vision to stabilize. Following this period, the physical effects of the treatment are permanent. However, age related vision problems might alter the visual acuity.

Will I require eyeglasses after LASIK surgery? – In general, LASIK eliminates a person’s dependence on eyeglasses or contact lenses. Though a rarity, a few people might need a minimal prescription for certain activities. Anyway, reading glasses are typically necessary beyond the age of 40, when presbyopia sets in. This is when the eye lens loses its accommodation power.

What is the frequency of follow up visits after surgery? – The surgeon would normally examine you on the day following surgery. After that, there should be regular checkups spanning a period of around 3 to 6 months – a time period enough for the visual results to completely set in. Basically, the recovery should be meticulously monitored over a substantial period of time.

If you find a LASIK doctor that you are confident with, you will be able to get more information about LASIK laser eye surgery.

Free Golf Lesson

Even after playing the game for years (decades?) you never know what’s going to happen each time you step foot on the golf course. Personally speaking, it is this “unknown” aspect of golf that makes the game the most exciting sport to play, and nerve wracking too! I try to hit a full round at my local course at least three times per week and every game I play is an entirely new experience altogether.

Because of the hundreds of unexpected shots that golf brings you, it is imperative that you take advantage of your practice time. Regular practice is the only way that you can experience some of the irregular situations your golf ball may get into. And speaking of practice, the best advice that I can give is to start utilizing unconventional approaches to your golf game.

What Does Unconventional Practice Mean?

Far too many players spend the majority of their time hitting long distance shots at the golf range, with a small percentage attacking their basic short game shots. Either way, neither one of these approaches practiced 100% of the time will present you with the opportunity to make those strange and undesirable shots that a real golf game will inevitably give you.

Free Golf Lesson: Look Away

To give you a perfect example of an unconventional practice shot, here is a lesson that can help you keep your head down and eyes on the ball when initiating your swing when your ball is in a troubled spot.

Step 1: First take your stance to the right side of the ball if you are left handed, and to the left side of the ball if you are a righty. Now face away from the target. Not looking directly at the target may seem awkward at first, but go with it, relax, and loosen up your body.

Step 2: Now hold the club (whichever you like) with it extended downwards from your most dominant hand. The blade should be pointing towards the ground, directly at your feet.

Step 3: Next, place the blade of your club behind the golf ball and turn your head slightly back in order to properly aim your shot.

Step 4: Pull the club upwards while extending it forward. Then swing the club down and along your target line as best possible. Follow through as far as you possible can.

Step 5: Resist the urge to turn around to see the end result. Simply concentrate on following through and getting the ball back in to play towards the green.

We “older” golfers tend to forget basics, and/or ignore them…. Don’t, it’s always a good idea to get back to them regularly.

For Lasting Vision And Healthy Eyes

Eat plenty of spinach (full of beta carotene), citrus (for vitamin C), nuts (for vitamin E) and lean beef (for zinc) now. An organic diet consisting of such food items can reduce the risk of vision loss by 35 percent for people between 70 and 85 years of age, as per a new study in The Journal of the American Medical Association.

Foods brimming with the kind of antioxidants mentioned above help fight an age-related eye disease called macular degeneration, which is the leading cause of blindness in older people. Antioxidants counter the effects of oxidation on the tissues and structure of the eyes. The body attempts to counter the effects of oxidation by producing and using antioxidants such as are found in Vitamins.

The following Vitamins have been found to improve, protect and support eye health;

Vitamin C found in fruits and vegetables, such as oranges, strawberries, rosehip and broccoli, reduces pressure in the Glaucoma, slowing deterioration in macular degeneration, and reducing the risk of cataracts.

Vitamin A found in carrots, sweet potatoes, and liver may reduce risk of cataracts, and night blindness. Its deficiency might cause blindness, and corneal ulcers.

Vitamin E found in many nuts, such as almonds and hazelnuts, uses its antioxidant properties to reduce the risk for macular degeneration and cataracts.

Besides vitamins; Minerals play a vital role in maintaining and improving eyesight. Minerals are inorganic compounds (Carbon free) that actually metabolize vitamins in the body. They help maintain flow of information (electricity) necessary for every element.

Some minerals and compounds believed to be crucial to the health of eyes are: Zinc (found in red meat, wheat, oysters); Selenium (seafood, yeast and nuts); Lutein (spinach and collard green – reduces dry eyes); Bioflavonoids (citrus fruits, bilberry, and strawberries – improve night vision); Carotenoids pigment (red, orange and yellow fruits and plants, leafy green vegetables – prevents macular degeneration and cataracts)

Ideally all the above mentioned nutrients should be present in normally available food. But that’s not the case because modern farming practices – read pesticides and fertilizers – and the depletion of nutrients in the soil has resulted in fruits and vegetables not so rich in vitamins and minerals. Hence, the need for food supplements and ‘organic food’.

But not everyone can have organic food; for lack of money or for lack of access, so a Vitamin Supplement is a good option to get those missing nutrients and avoid potentially dangerous diseases such as macular degeneration.

1. Bilberry – Bilberry is a herb used for both gastrointestinal and eye health. It contains active ingredients called Anthocyanidin Bioflavonoids, which are are antioxidants that help improve the flow of blood through the capillaries in eyes. It’s also used to treat diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration.

2. Grapeseed – Grapeseed improves the peripheral circulation in our eyes, and also strengthens the capillaries.

3. Eyebright – Eyebright makes a great eye home remedy. It’s great for sore eyes, and has an anti-inflammatory and soothing action.

4. Omega 3 Fatty Acids – Research from Harvard Medical School has found that taking Omega-3 oils reduces the chance of getting dry eyes. Try taking 3 to 6 grams of a good quality fish oil supplement daily.

Now Food Supplements packed with all the above nutrients are readily available. They do help, but it is important to note that care should be taken while determining the appropriate quantities. If health concerns are a factor, consulting a dietitian or physician may be prudent.

Things about LASIK Eye Surgery

LASIK eye surgery has helped millions globally to see better without using glasses or contact lenses. It is the most popular refractive surgical procedure because there is little or no pain and restored vision occur the next day. LASIK is an acronym for laser assisted in- situ keratomileusis.

Five things you should know before committing to LASIK eye surgery are listed below.
1. What is LASIK? It is a refractory surgery procedure for correcting near and far sightedness. During the procedure a thin flap is created either by a cutting instrument called microkeratome or by the newer IntraLase laser. The surgeon lifts the flap, then removes (ablates) the required corneal tissue with an excimer laser to reshape the cornea.

The flap is then replaced over the area where the tissue was ablated. This flap acts as bandage over the treated cornea. The doctor performing the procedure uses a computer to calculate and adjust the laser for the particular refractive problem.

2. What to do before LASIK eye surgery? If you are seriously considering this procedure, the most important thing to do is find a reputable and experienced eye surgeon. A good surgeon reduces the risks of complications. The eye specialist will examine you to determine your visual defect, and the level of laser ablation necessary.

If you have dry eye disease, treatment will be necessary before the procedure.A map of the cornea will be created by a corneal topographer, and you may have a wave front analysis that precisely maps out the area of visual refractive defect. Your doctor will assess your general health and medication and decide whether you qualify on health grounds for LASIK eye surgery.

If you are not offered a patient information booklet, ask for one. Before LASIK treatment you should know what to expect after the procedure. You are more likely to be satisfied if before treatment, you know the outcome and fully understand the risks and complications.

3. What happens during LASIK treatment? This treatment is short and you are awake throughout. The surgeon may give you a mild sedative tablet before the procedure. Even though you will walk out of the treatment centre, you should be accompanied, to make sure you get home safely. The surgeon will put anaesthetic drops into your eye, and while you lie down, he or she will align the laser directly over your eye.

Your eye will be kept open and pressurised by a retainer with a suction ring. The surgeon will mark out the area of the cornea. The flap is then created either by a microkeratome or IntraLase laser. The flap is then lifted. You will then be asked to focus on a light source while the excimer laser delivers pulses of high beam light on to the cornea.

The laser will produce a consistent clicking sound during treatment. You may note an acrid smell during treatment. The time taken depends on the extent of your refractory problem. The flap is then replaced. You will then rest for a while.

4. What are the complications? In the past, following LASIK eye surgery, there were as much as 5 complain of dry eyes after LASIK eye surgery. Most disappear after 6 months. Artificial tears will help. There may be under correction or over correction. Eye infection or irritation is uncommon but will require treatment.

5. What to expect? During the assessment stage, make sure you know what you should expect following surgery. You should expect 20/20 vision or better but 20/40 or better is good enough to drive without glasses or contact lenses. A study by US Military on 16,000 army personnel following LASIK eye surgery, between 2000 and 2003 showed that 86 achieved 20/40 vision or better. If the predicted outcome does not meet your expectation, then you have to make an informed decision based on the expected results, risks and cost.

Fishing Finicky Walleyes

Summer walleye, this is the time for the most popular game fish in Canada. Tens of thousands of anglers consider this their favourite fish to catch for the sport and mostly for the fact that it is one of the greatest fish to eat.

This tip comes from an experience while fishing walleye in Northern Ontario, on Manitoulin Island, in went out early in the morning hoping to pick up a few walleye early.

I headed for a shoal that I fish frequently; it is about 20 to 25 feet of water, and drops off to about 70 feet deep. After about and hour or so, I had 2 small walleyes to show for my effort. Guessing that the cool front that moved through over night had affected the fish, I started to fish the drop off and along the length of the shoal, and still no fish. With the help of technology (fish finder, sonar) I found that there were groups of fish suspended at 20 to 25 feed in 75 feet of water. I finally surmised that the fish holding at this level would be very hard to get to, and when suspended like this they are usually not in a feeding mood.

The next problem was that to reach these fish with my jigs and no bottom structure to follow was near impossible, although down rigging or trolling would preset my bait at a better level, if they were not actively feeding it was again a tuff sell for these walleyes. What is needed in a situationlike this is a slow presentation of the lure or live bait. What I needed was a bait delivery system that would consistently put me at the right depth and slow enough to keep the bait in the strike zone for a long time, so as to tease them into action. I also wanted to be able to make long casts to allow long drifts through these suspended walleye schools.

I decided to give a slip-bobber a try; it’s simple and deadly when used right. Most anglers don’t use this walleye technique enough it works. The slip bobber, slips up and down the line from your hook to a bobber stop you set for the desired depth. I needed to get the bait down 25 feet; with the slip bobber the stopper you use to set your depth is so small that it will pass through the rod guides and onto the reel without no problems at all. And if you find your depth is not quite right you simply move the stop up or down.

Now with the slip bobber controlling my depth accurately, I was able to drift my bait (live bait, jigs, and plastics work well) right through these schools of walleye at nose level, also able fish very slow giving these finicky walleyes lots of time to make up their minds about having a snack. It was a large school of walleyes and the result was a couple of hours of super walleye fishing.

If you think about it slip bobbers can be used with your favourite live bait for walleye fishing. Either a plain hook or jig tipped with a minnow, worm or leach can be fished in the same way for precise depth control. Plus slip bobbers are not restricted to walleye fishing. They are great for all sorts of fishing, when conditions call for depth control, long distance casting or a really slow presentation. I have used them for trout and salmon in rivers, and even on bass in small clear pools where a long cast and slow movement is needed. I have taken a lot of nice bass from under and alongside the numerous swimming rafts and docks around different lakes I have fished and used this method quite successfully. These tactics also work great around bridge pillars, piers and supports, and weed lines, and dams. By casting so easily and smoothly they are great for kids, they love to see the bobber twitch and disappear.

Once you start walleye fishing and any other species, you will likely find all sorts of situations where they will be the answer to speed and depth control. Pick up a couple and try these tips, you will not regret it. Just go fishing!

Finding Those Big Fat Walleye Fish In The Fall

Though the calendar doesn’t say so yet, weather forecasters count the time around Labor Day as the start of autumn. Walleye fishermen can attest to the truth of that. Fish are no longer concentrated in their summer haunts. Trolling structure or fishing shallow weed lines produces fewer and fewer walleyes.
Days are shorter. Nights are cooler. The transition has come.

It is as if all of a sudden, walleyes aren’t where they were. “They’re gone.”

As early as mid-August, subtle changes (that often go unnoticed) signal the start of the fall transition period. Weeds begin dying, from colder overnight temperatures, fewer hours of sunlight, and other factors.

Look for dying weeds, that’s what starts it and push it. It has often been said of late season killer Walleye fishing that what a lot of people don’t understand is that baitfish will only stay in those weeds as long as they are very green. Once weeds start to die off, it seems as though baitfish and walleyes start to leave those shallow-water weed areas.

Shallower, dark-water lakes enter the transition period first. Deeper, clear-water lakes experience transition later in fall. Some lakes have green weeds all the way to ice-up.

Walleyes on the move can be hard to locate, so the transition can be frustrating. But, these fish migrate to predictable areas and gather in big schools, generally according to size.

Once the big ones are located, action can be incredible.

What the fall does is it gives the walleye angler the edge all in all. You will soon notice that the fish are not spread all over the lake. They are in key spots in the deepest part of the lake. You can literally eliminate most of the lake, as you think about where to look.

Where do these transition Walleyes go?

At first, they start to move out to more open-water areas, sand is a really critical thing, if it’s available. They slide out to areas around deep water, like sand bars that come out from shore and drop to deeper water, sand flats, sand points, and sand humps.

The best place to look for the elusive Walleye fish is sandy areas, especially in September. If you are fishing your summer spots and they aren’t there, start fishing the sand.”

Don’t look for walleyes in the deeper water, though, not yet. As the transition is getting underway, it’s still common to find walleyes in 15 feet and less.

At those depths, a good quality sonar unit can be a big help. Walleyes may be so tight to the bottom, they’re difficult to see, but not impossible. A really good sonar fish finder unit that measures and displays up to 640 vertical pixels is the ticket. Combine that with bottom tracking and the zoom feature, and you can often pick up on walleyes tight to the bottom. Likewise, they may be on the very top of the structure. In that case, spooking fish can become an issue.

The bottom line is this: if an area has the characteristics that should hold fish, fish it. The best way to check the shallows is to keep the boat in deeper water, cast to the top of the structure and work back down.

This is the time of the year to use live bait.

Walleyes begin to move deeper as water temperatures drop toward turnover, which begins at 62 degrees F or so. Instead of looking for fish to be on top of structures, look deeper. They will be in spots like the sharper breaks or on mid-lake humps that top out at perhaps 20 feet, rather than 15, or in holes in soft-bottom flats where depth drops from 15 feet to 20 and then returns to 15.

At this time, walleyes become more selective about where they stage. They generally locate on a spot-on-a-spot. For example, if they are on a mid-lake hump with scattered boulders, they will be on the boulders. If all rock, look for the patch of sand. If all sand, look for the rock pile. It’s time for a different fishing paradigm. Think where those big fat Walley are this time of year.

Precision with regard to location becomes important. Because more and more walleyes show up on these few spots, more and more of the lake holds no fish. It’s easy to be skunked if you don’t pay attention to subtle differences on the structure. On the other hand, it can be a bonanza if you do. You will find that once you find one walleye, you’ll often find the mother lode of Walleyes. Where one rat is so to speak is the whole colony or in this case school of Walleye fish. As water continues to cool down, through the 50s to the 40s, walleyes tend to locate on structure that leads to the deepest water in the lake. Check points or bars that extend out into the deep basin when water temperatures reach the 30s, walleyes that were in 15 feet of water in mid-August are now down 45 feet or more (where this kind of depth is available to them). They tend to seek out places where mud and hard bottom meets in the deepest water in the lake. Deep boulders become fish magnets.

The deeper water is warmer and holds food at that time of year.
In shallow, dark-water lakes that have a perch forage base, walleyes will dig up lake Manitoba fishflies and mayflies as well as the other aquatic insects from the deep mud at the bottom of the Lake Manitoba Narrows.

In deeper, clear lakes, they may be at 70 feet and deeper looking for the minnows, whitefish and assorted acquatic life that are in deep and even more deeper waters at that time of year.

Fish are on the move as fall turns to winter. Move with them and you’ll turn cold weather fishing into a hot time on the water.

Find out about Laser Eye Surgery

Finding out about Laser Eye Surgery is a very simple process. The Internet and your ophthalmology surgeon are your two best sources of information. Deciding to get laser vision correction surgery is a big decision and you should do all the research you can before making such big decisions. Being well informed about your surgeon and their experience and education will benefit you and could help to prevent an untrained surgeon from operating on your eyes.

When people first decide to start looking into this surgical technique they are usually just concerned about getting their vision fixed. As you start to become more and more interested in actually getting the surgery there may be some other more pertinent concerns that will pop up.

Important Questions

1. How do I decide on the right clinic to perform my surgery?

2. What experience does my surgeon have?

3. Did my surgeon go through special training in order to do this type of eye correction surgery?

4. How much is my surgery going to cost?

5. How long is the recovery time?

6. Does my surgeon have any lawsuits pending or any history of them?

These are all very important questions that you need to look into before you arrive at your surgeons office the day of the surgery. It takes time to make an informed decision so do not rush the process.

Time and Research

Spend a couple of weeks making your decision. If you make your decision when you are calm and not rushed, it is more likely that you will make a clear-headed decision about your eye surgery. Laser eye surgery has the risk of potential blindness, so it is not a surgery you should take lightly.

How to Start Your Research

Start your research with a consultation from a local laser eye surgery clinic. At your consultation you will be able to find out what type of corrective eye surgery will be able to help improve your vision. Feel free to take notes or have your surgeon write down the important information regarding your surgery.

After you have had a consultation it is time to use the Internet to your benefit. Look up the type of surgery your doctor suggested that you have. Become clear on the risks and potential benefits associated with this surgery.

You can also use the Internet to check up on your doctor. With just a few minutes of research time you should be able to find out if your doctor has any lawsuits or complaints pending. Although lawsuits are fairly common practice today, you should definitely pay attention if your surgeon has even one pending suit against them.

You can also research the licensing of your surgeon in his or her specialty field. If you have any questions about your surgeon’s past, feel free to ask the clinic directly. If they are open and honest they will direct you to exactly where you can go to find out more information concerning the training and education of your surgeon.
